Sessions

  • Redefining credibility and utility: exploring culturally responsive evaluation practices
In this session we will share our experience incorporating culturally responsive evaluation practices, highlighting stories ranging from regularly embedding these practices to adjusting our approach as a project progressed. Through an art-based data collection activity, we will explore and discuss data collection approaches, sharing knowledge, and navigating organizational cultures.

  • Advancing DEAI through Process Evaluation & New Approaches for Evaluating Professional Impact
Textbook “process evaluation” does not meet the complexities of the culturally responsive, community-informed processes increasingly used in our work. This session uses the experience of three projects to start a robust discussion around innovating on process evaluations to increase accountability to DEAI commitments, center lived experience in evaluation, and understand professional impacts. This session sits somewhere between the panel presentation and facilitated discussion categories. After hearing from three projects grappling with process evaluations, session attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and share about their own work. We plan to facilitate discussion around: How have you used evaluation to increase accountability to DEAI goals/frameworks on projects? and What are methods you have found helpful in embedding evaluation into ‘in-process’ projects?
