Jennifer Beck, Kearney Area Children's Museum

The Kearney Area Children’s Museum (KACM) reached for the stars as they opened their museum to the community for a special Free Family Fun Night with a solar-eclipse theme.

Families enjoyed a variety of activities from the NISE Net Explore Science: Earth & Space kit geared towards educating children and their families about the solar eclipse, space exploration, and science. KACM also welcomed special guests, Mike Fincke, current NASA Astronaut, and his wife, Renita Fincke, NASA Engineer. Families attending the event had the unique opportunity to hear from both Mike and Renita about the solar eclipse, the importance of space exploration, and about their individual roles at NASA. Following the presentations families enjoyed a meet and greet session with the Fincke’s, complete with photographs, high-fives, autographs, and tons of smiles. The museum says the event was one of a kind and simply “out of this world.”
