Dr. Kathy Chen has been teaching Materials Engineering at Cal Poly, SLO since 1999. She initially wanted to teach 2nd grade, so she now involves her undergraduate students in lots of outreach activities (such as NanoDays!). She spent her sabbatical with the National Center for Learning and Teaching (NCLT) in nanoscale science and engineering at Northwestern University developing nano activities. She has taught nano-related stuff in her classes, as well as a museums displays design course.
She received her Ph.D. in Materials Science at MIT.
