I am a Professor of Chemistry at Middle Tennessee State University, which is located in Murfreesboro (about 35 miles southeast of Nashville). I have been on the faculty at MTSU since 1994.

My alma mater is McMaster University in Canada, where I received a B.Sc. (Hons. Chemistry, graduating summa cum laude) in 1983, and a Ph.D. (with distinction in Physical Chemistry) in 1989. I was awarded a NSERC of Canada Postdoctoral Fellowship, which I held at Texas A & M University from 1989 to 1991. Between Aggieland and the 'Boro, I held a lab-sponsored Postdoctoral Fellowship at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

My area of research is theoretical chemistry, with interests in the development of quantum chemistry-based design tools for pharmacology and molecular electronics. I am also engaged in exploring the use of molecular modeling in undergraduate research as well as chemical education. I have enjoyed being an invited speaker at universities in Italy, Germany, China and Australia, as well as many here in the United States.
