Overview

Description:

Nano Dreams and Nano Nightmares is a big comedy about small things for families with children under the age of ten. This fifteen minute play incorporates puppetry and humor to introduce audiences to nanoscale science.

Objectives

Big Idea:

Things on the nanoscale are very, very small and behave differently than they do at the macro scale.

Learning goals:

Understand that molecules and atoms are always shaking, sticking and sliding.
Understand that things on the nanoscale behave differently than on the “big” or macro scale.
Be aware that there are potential positive and negative impacts of nanoscale technology.

Nano Comedy

Surveys were completed by a total of 16 visitors at the Science Museum of Minnesota after viewing the Nano Comedy Program (later called Nano Dreams and Nightmares) during the March 2007 NISE Exhibits and Programs Workshop. These visitors provided feedback about Nano Comedy in order to assess attitudes towards the program and the degree to which the program realized its objectives. Read more
