General Description:

Cued interviews took place at the Science Museum of Minnesota with a total of 24 visitors on February 21-24, 2007. Each visitor was given the opportunity to spend as much time as they wanted with the prototype and accompanying text. Initial interviews showed that there were problems with resetting the exhibit and with visitors comprehending what the exhibit represented. Consequently we tested additional labels.

Major Findings:

Visitors initially had difficulty understanding how to do the activity and how to reset the activity, but once they figured out what to do they wanted to do the activity more than once. Overall, the resetting of the activity appeared counter-intuitive enough for most people that a lot of direction was required to figure it out and even with that some couldn’t. There was a fair amount of confusion about what the exhibit is supposed to represent. The majority of visitors (88%) who tried this activity said they thought it was fun.
