Summer may be drawing to a close, but the NISE Network is already gearing up for NanoDays 2011. While the finishing touches are put on some new activities and kit contents, I’d like to share some of the feedback collected from NanoDays 2010.
First, the basics: 200 kits were distributed across the US in 2010; they went to all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Washington, DC. As of Aug. 25, 2010, 80 percent of kit recipients have provided feedback through the report form. If you have not yet reported on your kit use, you have a week before the form is closed. You can find the link here.
While we await the kickoff for NanoDays 2011, I’d like to share some details about events that were held in 2010. I’ve selected a random report from the database to highlight. Here is our first featured NanoDays collaborator.
Rebecca Shackleford, public programs manager, submitted the report for the Ann Arbor Hands On Museum. With a crew of over 30 staff and volunteers, Rebecca and her colleagues delivered hours of programming for visiting children and their parents. They set up the "Exploring" nano activities from the kit in a series of stations with stamps. Once a participant had collected 8 stamps, they received an "I’m made of Atoms" tattoo. They also offered two additional cart activities from the catalog: Lotus Leaf Effect and Balloon Nanotubes. Congratulations to Rebecca and her colleagues for a great intro to NanoDays!
